My first artist profile is, of course, DBSK!
So basically, DBSK is the best band to ever walk the earth. Ever. By far.
Technically, their *official* acronym is TVXQ, but I much prefer DBSK.
Their Korean name is Dong Bang Shin Ki/Gi [동방신기] or DBSK/DBSG. The Chinese equivalent is Dong Fang Shen Qi [東方神起], but idk what ridiculous romanization they used to come to Tong Vfang Xien Qi - thus TVXQ, their "official" acronym. And in Japan they use Tōhōshinki, abbreviated as THSK. All three basically mean "rising gods of the east."
Debuting in 2003, they have since been hugely popular in Asia; they are from the same label (SM) that produced H.O.T. and Shinhwa (two earlier massively successful Korean boybands). And they are basically amazing. Their talent is insane - they dance so well, and their vocals are just *ridiculous,* including in live performances with heavy choreography. It's insane. And though they are categorized as Pop, they have such range. Their a cappella is amazing, their ballads are so beautiful, and of course their pop is greeeeat.
I originally was going to include my member profiles within this one post, but that would have been overkill. I have written Jaejoong's and Junsu's so far, but need to update with videos, etc.
So stay tuned!
After member profiles are completed....*drumroll*....downloads and reviews of alllll their albums and most of their singles & videos!!!!!!!!!!!
Get excited :D
From Asianfanatics [click on link to see full profile - tons of info! love]:
TVXQ (Tong Vfang Xien Qi), the Korean boy band under SM Enterntainment, made up of 5 members who specialize in dance, singing, acappella, acting etc. They are popular throughout Asia especially S. Korea, China, Japan, Taiwan and Thailand, and are one of the most successful boy groups. Their Korean name is DBSK or DBSG. In Japan they are known as 'Tohoshinki' and in China/HK, known as '東方神起'. They debuted in 2004 in South Korea, Japan, Taiwan and China, but their first ever appearance was on the 26th December 2003. They are also in the Guiness World Records 2008 for having the biggest fanbase
From Wikipedia:
TVXQ, an acronym for Tong Vfang Xien Qi (東方神起), is a quintet South Korean boy band formed under SM Entertainment, and later debuted under Avex Trax in Japan. TVXQ is one of the most popular boy groups in South Korea. Its five members specialize in the areas of singing, dance, a cappella, acting, and pop with an R&B and hip-hop vibe. Since debut, the group gained a great popularity in South Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan, and other East Asian countries.[1][2].
TVXQ fans use various versions of the group's name in different countries. In South Korea, the group is known as Dong Bang Shin Gi (동방신기), abbreviated as DBSG or DBSK, while the Japanese equivalent of the group's name is Tōhōshinki, abbreviated as THSK. TVXQ, the acronym based on the Chinese counterpart of their name Tong Vfang Xien Qi, is the abbreviation officially used on all advertisements and products outside of Japan. Their name roughly translates as "Rising Gods of the East." (동방의 신이 일어나다.)[3]
From Wiki.theppn:
Tong Vfang Xien Qi (東方神起 in Hanja/Chinese/Japanese; 동방신기 in Hangul) is a five-member male chorus group based in Korea by SM Entertainment. In Japan, they are officially known as TOHOSHINKI. Due to differences in romanization of the Hangul by fans, they are often seen as Dong Bang Shin Ki or Dong Bang Shin Gi. Depending on which romanization is used, they are abbreviated as TVXQ, TVfXQ, DBSK, DBSG, or THSK. On official material in Korea and Japan they are shortened to TVXQ and THSK respectively. The group itself mostly uses the "TVfXQ" abbreviation.
TVXQ has debuted in Korea, Japan, and China and is well known as one of the leaders of the Hallyu Korean Wave. They are currently under the SM Entertainment label in Korea and the avex rhythm zone label in Japan.

Dear SM....
Hello SM People,
A few requests:
1. Please stop putting raps in your songs.
Really, SM's rappers suck. I'm sorry.
Kibum, Yunho, etc. - you are not Tablo. Nor will you ever be. Please stop trying. You cannot rap. You are very bad, really. You are not even as good as the Shinhwa rappers. And they are older. Please, please, please. Leave the rapping to real rappers.
SM pop is very, very good. Just leave it as pure pop. Pop is excellent. No rap. please.
Honestly, Yunho can sing decently. Let the boy sing. Or just dance all day and sing backup. Just ... no rapping.
[On another note...Big Bang, which as a YG artist is *supposed* to rap...sucks just as badly as SM's Kpop rapping. Now that is unfortunate. But G-Ri's awesomeness *almost* makes up for it.]
2. Please stop putting English in your songs.
Your market is Korea. Or Asia. Either way, they cannot speak English. Why is it necessary?
And for people who do understand English...you are just making fools of yourselves. It's very bad, really. We don't really understand what purple lines you are talking about, why you want to touch yourself, or why seven colors make much happiness.
Again, none of you are Tablo. Please stick to Japanese and Korean.
[And only Super Junior M and its awesomeness is allowed to attempt Chinese. DBSK, please improve your intonation before you try again. Seriously, nine songs later... And it is CHEATING to leave raps in Korean. All or nothing, people. PLUS refer back to #1. So Korean raps in Chinese songs = doubly wrong. ]
3. Keep groups to 5 or 6 people, max.
Super Junior is beyond ridiculous. IDK who those elves are kidding with their "only 13." How about, like, "only five." Suju really needs to split. I love how they all lipsynched because poor Heechulie had a sore throat. Oh no, because between the other twelve members they couldn't make up his vocals. Frickin DBSK did without Jaejoong for Rising Sun - if they can cover their lead singer and 1/5 of their group, Suju can cover a backup singer and 1/13 of their group.
Super Junior M is also too big. Seven is NOT OK. Especially because Ryowook is one of those seven. Ryowook has got to go. OUT. GO. OUT. And if you want an odd number for a nice V dancing formation, kick Zhoumi out.
SNSD also. I have not heard any of their music yet, but nine girls is unnecessary. I read Wikipedia and see that half of the girls don't really sing. Some are also MCs and DJs. wtf?? One doesn't even sing at all, apparently? Her position is "model, actress." mmkay, why is she in the group again? I also read there are RAPPERS in SNSD???? OMSK. Refer back to #1. I'm quite frightened to hear this, actually.
4. Drop this Big Brother business.
Seriously, this Father SM stuff is really frightening. You control these poor people's existences to the second. DBSK members deserve to have a life! And Heechul does not need a nose job! Please!!!
5. Bring DBSK to NY.
Ok, ok. Hollywood Bowl. Great. COME TO NEW YORKKKKK
Thanks!

My Love Affair with DBSK
I. LOVE. DBSK. This goes way beyond my childhood obssessions with the Backstreet Boys (but not Nsync, I really didn't like them), DBSK is simply awesomely amazingly spectacular.
The story goes kind of like this. [it's long, sorry, but DBSK is too great! it's very interesting and readable, I promise!]
- initial exposure -
About three years ago, Amanda showed me the video for Hug. I remember thinking, Ew wtf is this, with all the stupid white clothing, and icky Yoochun cam-whoring and checking out his face and shaving and random crap like that.
And I didn't really get a kick out of Jaejoong in that video, I just remember thinking, Holy crap that man is sooo pretty, like Zhao Wei but even prettier. Not necessarily in a good way. I didn't find him ugly per se, as I will maintain still that I have never ever found Jaejoong ugly [questionable hair and clothing choices? absolutely! ugly? NEVERRRRR]. But...definitely didn't do much for me.
Then...about a year ago I was on a forum, and I came across a post by this Korean American girl, "This guy may be femme but I'd hit it!" Who else but Jaejoong. It was, again, not a good pic of him, so I didn't get freaked out or anything, but I was vaguely reminded of the other super femme prettyboy Amanda had shown me earlier. With a little bit of investigation, I realized it was the same guy. Then that was that, I didn't further pursue it.
Also, Laura would mention DBSK in passing every so often. So it's not like DBSK ever fully dropped from my mind.
- seeds of obssession -
The real climactic moment was in November, or was it December - at Alice's sleepover. Laura showed us the video for Tri-Angle....and the rest is history. You all know the story.
But shinki knows that I have to blab about it anyway.
So basically, I saw Jaejoong so differently. Although the wardrobe and hair in this video were exceedingly questionable, and uber Asian not in a good way, I was very very intrigued. Jaejoong looked .... SO HOT. I was totally gone from that moment on. His gorgeousness was...overwhelming.
And that voice! I remember feeling so upset that they frickin gave so many parts to all these other uglies. I mean, I heart Junsu now , but let's face it - he did NOT look good in that video. Changmin was...ok. I'll get to that. And I've never been a Yoochun or Yunho fan, so I only succeeded in being exceedingly entertained by Yunho's feather eye [although, I couldn't distinguish b/w Yunho and Yoochun yet at that time lol].
So...for the weeks afterward, I was *obssessed* with Tri-Angle, just watching it over and over. Over time, I started to finally be able to tell Yunho and Yoochun apart! And notice the other members. I remember first finding Changmin attractive (but paling in comparison to Jaejoong), and also noting Junsu wasn't *too* bad.
And thus began my DBSK obssession.
- jaesu love -
I was full on obssessed with Jaejoong, and if I was hard pressed to pick a #2 I liked Changmin. So at that time I was a Jaemin shipper, if I had to ship [I was at first extremely horrified by the idea of coupling until I figured out they weren't really gay lol. I really hated Jaeho at the time, but they've grown on me].
Then I started to watch other videos. And....the second chapter of my obssession begins.
I discovered the AWESOMENESS of junsu. His hair thoroughly unimpressed me in Tri-Angle, but seeing him after he cut it short...gasp! SO GOOD LOOKING. And he was just way too fricking adorable. That infectious laugh. That amazingly easygoing personality [he takes so much abuse!]. That impossible cuteness. That adorable squeaky voice!!!!
Junsu is one of those rare people who can look SOOO adorable or SOOO HOT with just a change of expression. I heart both looks equally, Junsu can rock either. And he was my second favorite singing voice too.
Around this time, I started paying more attention to Junsu than Jaejoong. When they were together, and Junsu looked good [unlike Jaejoong, he can't pull off everything, unfortunately], I definitely noticed him more. Yes, I can't believe it either but it's true.
I just had to start shipping Jaesu, they were SOO cute together. To this day I am not sure if what I've read is true, that in reality Jaejoong doesn't like Junsu too much, but I sure hope not. Expect a Jaesu pic post in the future. EXTENSIVE. I have maybe 200 pictures from a delightful Asianfanatics thread. I'll see how many I'll use.
This period is when I went youtube crazy, as well as music downloading crazy. I'd ballpark between January and March.
- and now... -
I finally stopped cheating on my husband, and am now back to Jaejoong 24/7 100% :) I got more into Changmin again, although Junsu is still my [distant] #2. Especially Rising Sun. Changmin is a GOD in Rising Sun. That's a lot for me to say, considering Jaejoong is pure hotness in that video. Also Purple Line. holy crap, I missed hot Changmin. He's back though, thank shinki
Also...I've come to appreciate Yunho more, especially O Jung Ban Hap and later, b/c he finally grew out his hair a bit and got his teeth fixed, and that is VERY GOOD. The spiky shorter hair circa Rising Sun and earlier...no, sorry.
And Yoochun is growing on me as well, especially when he has nice short hair. I also rather like his voice, possibly more than Changmin's [except in Rising Sun! again - changmin in RS = GODDD] - making him my #3 voice in DBSK.
Basically, I have really come to love DBSK as a group more and more. They are fabulous, really. It's so hard to put their awesomeness in words. They are just...great. They better not fricking go into military service anytime soon.
[Sorry for the novel! If you made it through, comments please????? :D]
PS: I am going to edit this post with more links to videos and pictures. Just give me a couple days.

~*~ FIRST POST!!! ~*~
Hi!!!! :D
I know everyone has been waiting in suspense for my first post. Well, here it is - anti-climactic for sure. I wanted it to be really epic, then I thought about it and that's not really gonna happen. I'll just talk about what my blog is going to be about, I suppose.
So basically, I worship Korean culture, especially DBSK, and especially Jaejoong, who is basically the most amazing person alive. Absolutely. I find a lot of random stuff, and have many random thoughts, so I decided to just write a blog.
The main focus of my blog, for sure, will be DBSK. It will also have random comments about other Korean and Asian stars, with commentary on videos, news, etc., and also expect picture posts of stars I find really hot (guys) or really gorgeous (girls).
And a huge huge portion will be purely music related - i.e. CD/single reviews, and downloads in most cases. The general format will be this: I will pick an artist to focus on...start off with an artist profile, then review songs and/or CD's, then associated videos - in chronological order. With downloads where applicable. That does mean, though, that my Super Junior M ravings will have to wait a looong time, as will my excellent commentary on Zhang Liyin's sad videos. [Although in some cases, if I get too excited about a recent release, I'll skip everything and jump right to that one. I'll try to resist though, cos my organized side tends to win out.]
At this point, I'm pretty sure I'll be using Yousendit for downloads, instead of normal hosting sites. That means each link is good for 7 days and 100 downloads. So keep that in mind; my links will expire within a week of posting!
Also, I will probably upload a bunch of videos onto Youtube, but I will likely keep them *private* to avoid copyright issues, I don't want my new account to get suspended. So FRIEND me if you want to be able to see them.
So yeah, hope you guys enjoy the blog :D
First up, DBSK. I will prelude the artist profile with a post about my love for DBSK. Yep.
[Note: that big blank space under the excellent DBSK pic...there is going to be a slideshow there eventually.]
Oh, and explanation of my blog title, for those who don't get it: DBSK is short for dong bang shin ki, which roughly means "Rising gods of the east." So, basically, instead of OMG I say OMSK, which essentially means "oh my rising gods" haha.
My one request: PLEASE COMMENT IF YOU READ :]
